The Marylin Chorlton Memorial Exhibit of Cybis at the New Jersey State Museum

I recently became aware that the New Jersey State Museum, which holds one of the largest surviving collections of Cybis porcelain, mounted an exhibit of 100 sculptures in memory of Marylin Chorlton. The curator of the collection was kind enough to send me the list of the pieces that formed the exhibit, which was held during the 1980s although they have no record of the precise dates.

The sculptures were displayed along both sides of the interior walls of the Auditorium. In this street view of the Museum, the Auditorium is the low building on the right. Although not all of the sculptures on display had been designed by Marylin, this in no way detracts from the honor that the exhibit afforded to her memory.

In the list below, the headings are those that the Museum used for their display groupings and exhibit brochure. All of the sculptures came from the Museum’s holdings.  Any of the exhibited sculptures that have been attributed to Marylin herself are designated here with an asterisk following the name, and listed first.
